Terms of Use

The fine print, in plain words

Last updated November 1, 2026.

These terms cover your use of ghostlighttheatricals.com, run by Ghostlight Theatricals LLC, an Indiana limited liability company ("Ghostlight", "we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What this site is for

The site tells schools, community theaters and writers about our plays, and lets you ask us questions, request a perusal script, request a performance license, send a play for us to read, sign up for email, and order merchandise. Using the site does not license any performance. You must be an adult to send us a form or place an order. If you act for a school, theater or other organization, you confirm that you are allowed to do so.

2. Performance licenses

A performance is licensed only when Ghostlight and your organization have both signed a performance license agreement and the minimum royalty is paid. Quotes, request forms and emails are not licenses. We may decline any request. The signed license agreement controls if it differs from anything on this site, including these terms.

3. Our plays and other content

The plays, scripts, titles, characters, artwork, logos and text on this site belong to their authors or to Ghostlight and are protected by copyright and trademark law. All rights are reserved. You may view the site for your own use. You may not copy, share, post, perform, record or adapt any of it except as a signed license or our written permission allows.

A perusal script is for reading only, to decide whether to apply for a license. Do not copy, share, post or perform from it.

4. What you send us

Please give accurate information in our forms. When you send us a play, you confirm that you wrote it and own the rights to it. Sending a play does not give us any rights in it, and we have no duty to read, produce or license it. We may already be working on, or may later receive, plays with similar ideas, and sending us yours does not limit that work. Any agreement with a writer will be in a separate written contract.

5. The lobby shop

Who can order. When our public store is open, anyone can order from it. Theater pricing in the Lobby Shop is for theaters with a signed license for the play the merchandise belongs to. We may decline or cancel any order. If we cancel an order you have paid for, we will refund what you paid for it.

Orders and payment. A request is not an order. Theater orders are printed to order after we review the request and the invoice is paid. Prices can change until we confirm your invoice. Shipping is billed at cost, and sales tax is added where it applies. Card payments are taken on a secure page run by our payment provider, and its terms also apply.

Timing. Order at least three weeks before you need your items. Dates we give are estimates, not promises. Printers and carriers cause delays we cannot control, and we are not responsible for what a late delivery costs you, including a missed opening or lost sales.

Your approval and your logo. Check your order, sizes, spelling and any proof before you approve it. We print what you approve. If you send us a logo or other artwork, you confirm that you have the right to use it, and you are responsible for any claim that it infringes someone else's rights.

All sales are final. Because items are printed to order, we do not accept returns or give refunds for a change of mind, wrong sizes you chose, unsold items, or a show that is cancelled or postponed.

Damaged or wrong items. If an item arrives damaged, defective or different from your approved order, email us with your order number and photos within 14 days of delivery. We will replace the item or refund what you paid for it, and we choose which. That is the only remedy for a problem with merchandise. Small differences in color, size and print placement are normal in printed goods and are not defects.

Shipping. You are responsible for giving a correct shipping address. Once a carrier has your order, the risk of loss passes to you. Reprinting or reshipping an order sent to an address you gave us is at your cost.

6. Email

If you sign up for email, you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any message. Our Privacy page explains what we collect and why.

7. Acceptable use

Do not try to break, overload, scrape or get around the security of the site, send spam through its forms, copy or post our scripts, pretend to be someone else, or use the site for anything unlawful. We may block anyone from the site or our forms at any time.

8. Links to other sites

We link to other sites, such as social media pages. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

9. No warranties

The site, our plays, scripts, perusal copies, merchandise and everything else we provide are given "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. That includes any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not promise that a play will suit your cast, audience, venue or community, that a production will sell tickets or make money, or that the site will always be available or free of errors. You decide whether a play is right for you, and a perusal script is there so you can read it first. The dissatisfaction of an audience, or a production that loses money, is not a reason for a refund.

10. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ghostlight and its owners, writers and helpers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost ticket sales, lost donations, or production costs, even if we were told they were possible.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose for the item or license the claim is about.

Any claim against us must be brought within one year after it arose, or it is given up.

11. Your responsibility to us

If your use of the site, your production, your logo or artwork, or your breaking these terms leads to a claim against Ghostlight, its owners or its writers, you will cover the resulting losses and costs, including reasonable attorney's fees.

12. Disputes: Indiana law, Orange County, Indiana

These terms, and anything to do with the site, our plays or our merchandise, are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law.

Any lawsuit or other legal action must be brought only in the courts located in Orange County, Indiana. You agree to those courts' authority over you, and you give up any objection that Orange County is an inconvenient place to bring or defend a case. Your travel and lodging for any dispute are your own cost.

13. Changes and the rest

We may update these terms or change or close the site at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term once, we can still enforce it later.
